Powder Paint applications offer the greatest resistance to corrosion and have the potential to withstand daily use for a lifetime--but only when it is applied correctly and cured to exact specifications. One or two mils of variance in thickness either way will result in a failed process where a molecular bond is not established or the finish will crack chip and scrape easily. Everyone does powder paint but very few do it professionally.

Powder Paint

Professional Grade powder coat paint is electrostatically applied after all surfaces are cleaned prepared in a multi-stage spray wash system finalized with an ion-phosphate rinse. The paint is applied in a highly controlled (environmentally safe) atmosphere according to manufacturers specifications for thickness and then oven baked to activate the epoxy-resin base.

This type of paint differs from enamel based paint in one very important aspect. The electrostatic application process creates a molecular bond between the paint and the metal, effectively fusing the two together. This fused finish is the most corrosion resistant available.

Powder coat paint is the most durable paint finish you can buy and salt-spray tests confirm that this paint system far exceeds other finishes in corrosion resistance tests. Color options in powder coat are endless and include textured finishes like the Silver and Copper Vein samples shown at the left.
